- I currently begin making my meal plan and grocery list by writing out all the ingredients I have on hand at home for each food group. This helps me plan out meals to use up items I have and reduces the amount of food items I am purchasing.

One way I reduce food waste is by using most of the parts of my fruits and vegetables. I remind myself that for example, broccoli stems are thrown away by some people, but I can use the stems in my recipes because they are edible. Another way I reduce food waste is to freeze my easily perishable foods before they go bad so I can preserve them use them at a later time.

- One way I currently reduce food waste is by meal planning for the entire week. I make sure to go through my food in the fridge and pantry and try to plan meals for the week that use up my current ingredients.

To reduce food waste we meal plan, that way we are only purchasing what is needed. We have never composted and I am interesting in trying this, also vermiculture composting sounds fun. This is something we do in our office and I have been wanting to try at home.
- I plan for the week with my fruits & Vegetables. At the end of the week, the left over fresh vegetables are used in stir-fry, baked or into a soup. Many of the leftover fruits get eaten, go into a fruit salad or get frozen.
- Would you believe, I want to try the recipe for pickling onions. I have had pickled onions on meals at restaurants, but never thought to try this myself. Love onions this way as I normally don’t like raw onions.
- Currently we just began composting through our local waste management company. By doing this we are not throwing food scraps into the garbage anymore. It is nice because our local waste management is taking all food scarps.
